I think the only reason I prefer Photoshop over SAI is because between the two, Photoshop is actually a lot closer to real painting. ^^; Photoshop involves a lot of color mixing and whatnot, while SAI is just…. blend blend blend OMGWTF I DIDN’T WANT TO BLEND TH—AGHDFJ STOP IT YOU WHORE I WANT HARD HIGHLIGHTS, NOT WHATEVER IT IS YOU ARE DOING…. and that was my experience. ^^; I felt like I was using Photoshop’s retarded cousin. Eh hahah. Hah.

Lmfao. Hah, I’ve heard the exact opposite. xD I haven’t tried painting in SAI, though; I only tried inking/sketching, so eh. ^^;

But on the other hand, every SAI artist I’ve seen makes really, really blended paintings. E.g. PK. So yeah. ^^;

Hahah, and PK does amazing work in that program; I’m a huge fan of the way she renders, and handles color. SAI is just… I can see how it’d be awesome, it’s just it cannot work well with the way I currently work. I tend to do my ‘line art’ and my paints all on one layer, and then the way SAI blends… It takes the line art with it, so the colors turn grayed and murky and I’m just like, “Oh my god this is stupid,” because it’s ruining everything. And I’m one of those impatient people who absolutely hates having to remember to switch layers, heh. I think it’s just I’ve found my method that works and I’m at the point where I need to stick with it or I get pissed off, lol.

Ah, makes sense. xD I actually got around to try some painting/colour blending in SAI today, and uh. Lineart + paint on the same layer? Yah, no go. Compared to Photoshop, it’s far easier to make it look good, though (considering you work on different layers); I’m not sure whether that’s a good or bad thing, though. Because when you switch to Photoshop, painting will be like “wtf WHY CAN’T I PAINT /wrists.” If you don’t learn how to paint traditionally, that is. Which will make you susceptible to a lot of fails either way, but especially in this regard, I guess?

But then again, I use layers for everything, and I usually don’t even paint much, so I guess that’s a reason why I like SAI.
